We were contacted recently by Phil, who needed some help restoring his GRP garage door. He wasn’t sure which product to use so he got in touch and asked! We recommended Polytrol as it revives and restores the colour of faded surfaces – it’s perfect for use on fibreglass as well as many other surfaces so great for Phil’s garage. He didn’t want to buy on-line so we helped him to find a local Owatrol stockist near where he lives in Aberdeen.
Phil got in touch again a couple of weeks later to let us know that he’d finished his garage door and he was delighted with the results. He said:
I am more than happy, I am delighted. The door has now had two coats of Polytrol and looks as good as when it was fitted fifteen years ago. In the past fifteen years the door has never been treated with any other product and to get these results is just amazing, just wish I’d known about this product a few years ago.
He sent us a picture of the finished door and we think it looks good as new too! If you have a similar project, we would recommend using Owatrol Polytrol as your solution. It’s a colour restorer which revives the look of dull and faded plastics, GRP, metal, paint, tiles and more. It also helps to protect the surface against corrosion and blemishes due to its Owatrol Oil technology. To apply, first ensure that any surface to be treated is clean, dry and free of grease. Then apply a generous layer of Polytrol and leave to work for 10-20 minutes. After this time, wipe away any excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth or paper towel and allow 24 hours before use.

Polytrol is perfect for restoring plastic garden toys and once dry, it is completely harmless. It will give you great results as long as the surface is not white as Polytrol restores the colour pigments (not present in white!).

Can you please let us know the cost of Polytrol for restoring fiberglass garage door

This would depend on the size of your garage door but taking a standard single garage door at 10ft x 7ft (larger size) you would need roughly 0.5 litres as that would be 7m² and the approximate coverage of Polytrol is 18m² per litre. Obviously the exact amount would depend on the size of your door. A 0.5L container of Polytrol costs £12.28 (+ VAT).

Hi, is there a stockist in the Southampton please?
I don’t suppose I can obtain a sample to do a patch test before buying sufficient for my fibreglass double garage door?

There are several stockists in Southampton for Owatrol products – including Crown Decorating Centre, Dulux Decorator Centre and Brewers Southampton. We would recommend giving them a call before visiting to ensure stock levels of Polytrol. Unfortunately although we do sell sample pots of many of our products, Polytrol is not one of them as it already comes in a 0.5L tin. You can also buy Polytrol direct from Owatrol with next working day delivery when ordering before 3pm.
