Application of Polytrol Colour Restorer
General directions
Always work in areas that can be completed 10-20 minutes to ensure an even appearance. If the surface absorbs the Polytrol unevenly (i.e. some matt and some shiny patches) move any surplus oil from shiny areas to matt areas. Always wipe away excess Polytrol with a lint-free cloth before it becomes tacky. For a shinier finish, buff the surface with a lint-free polishing cloth.
When using the Polytrol 250ml spray can, simply spray on liberally, wipe off the excess and leave to dry.
Applying Polytrol to plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc.
Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth. Allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.
Applying Polytrol to stone, brick, etc.
Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth and leave it to work for 10-20 minutes. Brush out or wipe off the excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.
Applying Polytrol to metal
Apply Polytrol using a fine wire wool (000 grade) soaked in Polytrol and allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off the excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave to dry.
Note: Excess Polytrol must be wiped away. It is not a surface coating and as such, its place is in the surface, not on top.
Maintenance
Maintenance is due when a Polytrol treated surfaces shows signs of fading. Prepare and re-treat surfaces as directed above.
Clean Up
Clean any tools used with white spirit. Polytrol is non-flammable, however any rags, steel wool etc. soaked in Polytrol may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Rags, steel wool etc must be saturated with water after use or placed in a sealed, water-filled metal container, before disposing of them with household waste. Rags may be laid flat and air-dried before discarding.
Things to Remember
- Cover and protect everything you do not wish to treat.
- Apply between +5°C and +35°C.
- Do not apply in direct sunlight or on to hot surfaces.
- Do not allow excess Polytrol to dry and create a film on the surface (always remove excess product).
- Do not use Polytrol on white surfaces.

Used the 125ml tin of Polytrol on my fading grey PVC and the results were amazing. It was so easy to do. I just brushed it on, left it for about 15mins then removed excess with my lint cloths, brilliant. I am looking around to see what else I can bring back to life in my home.

Very pleased with the results after applying with a cloth on faded grey uPVC bifold doors and windows, composite kitchen worktops and front door (including metal numbers). A small 125ml tin goes a long way – don’t buy too much as there are instructions on how to store left over product and ensure cloths are cleaned after application and dried flat.

Purchased to restore the colour on my front door due to it having faded. The product was easy to use and I am more than happy with the end result. The door looks new as the colour has returned to its original state. Some reviews say it may need to be done every few months however there is plenty of the product left in the 250ml tin making it cost effective.

Excellent product and the coverage was excellent. I took the advice of previous reviews and ordered a small tin to undertake a refurbishment of my composite door. I’ve still got over 3/4 of the tin remaining. The results have made a fantastic difference to the door and looks like new again

Used it to restore colour to our composite door after it had faded in the sun. Really easy to use, only took a few minutes and has brought the door up a treat. Only needed a small amount, so even if it needs doing once or twice a year a small can will last a while- thanks!

Alongside many of your reviewers, I have used POLYTROL on a wide range of plastics with excellent results. However, the big score goes to its use on the blue gelcoat of my boat. Amazing transformation from powder grey back to a deep rich blue. A superb product.

I purchased a small tin of Polytrol to bring some life back into a faded trim below the windscreen of my VW as it had turned a light grey.
I was amazed at the transformation. After just one coat it had returned to black. I will probably add another coat as well.
My plastic car headlight lenses had also turned cloudy, which appears to be a common problem now.
So I gave them a coat of Polytrol, again I was amazed at the change it brought about.
I would definitely recommend Polytrol. I might try it on some plastic garden chairs next.

Excellent service and product. I ordered the Polytrol to try to revive the colour on a very faded rock door. I was really impressed with the speed of delivery, especially because it was free! The product was very easy to apply and has really refreshed the colour of the door. It now looks much brighter, with a nice shine. I would certainly recommend
