Polytrol is a deep penetrating oil which restores the original colour and appearance of dull or tarnished plastics, gelcoats, metals, and other surfaces.
It penetrates the surface, re-wetting the pigments to restore their lustre and colour which has been lost through exposure to sunlight, rain, and pollution and it also gives corrosion protection. Â When used on tarnished metals, it brings back the shine and gives long-term protection against corrosion.
Simple to apply using a cloth or soft brush, it’s ready to wipe off in just 10 minutes! It can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and can even be used on fibreglass (GRP). Polytrol dries to a tough and long-lasting flexible finish which does not leave a film – so it won’t peel or flake.
Polytrol is now available in a handy 250ml spray can, great for quick application and difficult to reach areas. Please see the directions for use to find out how to apply it.

Application of Polytrol Colour Restorer
General directions
Always work in areas that can be completed 10-20 minutes to ensure an even appearance. If the surface absorbs the Polytrol unevenly (i.e. some matt and some shiny patches) move any surplus oil from shiny areas to matt areas. Wipe off any excess Polytrol with a lint-free cloth before it becomes tacky. For a shinier finish, buff the surface with a lint-free polishing cloth.
When using the Polytrol 250ml spray can, simply spray on liberally, wipe off any excess and leave to dry.
Applying Polytrol to plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc.
Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth. Allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off any excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.
Applying Polytrol to stone, brick, etc.
Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth and leave it to work for 10-20 minutes. Brush out or wipe off any excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.
Applying Polytrol to metal
Apply Polytrol using a fine wire wool (000 grade) soaked in Polytrol and allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off any excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave to dry.
Note: Polytrol is not a surface coating. Its place is in the surface, not on top.
Maintenance

Clean Up
Clean any tools used with white spirit. Polytrol is non-flammable, however any rags, steel wool etc. soaked in Polytrol may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Rags, steel wool etc must be saturated with water after use or placed in a sealed, water-filled metal container, before disposing of them with household waste. Rags may be laid flat and air-dried before discarding.

I purchased polytrol last week to use on my composite front door which had lost its surface and faded over the years. The product was very easy to use and has restored the door to its former colour. I must admit I was a little apprehensive in using this product at first as there was very little information available about using it on front doors but am now glad I did as I have the appearance of a new front door for such a small price. I would thoroughly recommend polytrol colour restorer to anyone wanting to revive their faded UPVC/Composite doors/windows etc. Well worth doing and as easy as it says on the tin. Just use a cloth to apply, wipe off the excess and let it dry! The finish was better than I expected.

I purchased this product about 3 months ago and tried it out during the lockdown period. I applied it to the grey upvc surrounds to my windows, which are 4 years old and have suffered quite badly from the intense sunlight and heat that I get on both my balcony in the morning and in my backyard in the afternoon. I found that the product was about 90% successful in restoring the colour – perhaps the surrounds were a little too in far gone in patches to be any better. The material itself was easy enough to apply and the finish is really good and lasting. So I would recommend it notwithstanding the caveat above.

Purchased a Litre tin some 2 years ago , I have a plastic wood grained garage door , couldn’t find anything that after application that lasted long, I live in a coastal area and the salt air is so damaging, I spotted this product and duly ordered , it takes me about 25 minutes to apply to my door , the results are transforming although I have to apply further coats probably about 3 to 4 times a year due to the severe weather conditions , I redid it again today with my last drop of the product and have just reordered another litre, there are 9 other garages in our block, they use just a car product for bumpers and they fade within 4 weeks of a refurb, highly delighted with your product ,many thanks .

I used polytrol on my narrowboat one side came out perfectly..the other is patchy full & streaky.
After speaking with Ken, I’ve redone the polytrol with a brush instead of a cloth as he suggested & it came out perfectly!! Thank you so much ! Jo

I was about to fork out £360 on having a badly faded garage door uPVC spray painted and then stumbled across Owatrol Polytrol. Despite the positive reviews, I still had my doubts, but at one tenth the price of a respray decided to shell out for a litre of the stuff in a “What-the-hell-let’s-give-it-a-go” moment. Well, even the positive reviews don’t do Polytrol justice. It’s ridiculously easy to apply, easy to clean up after and has left my garage door (and the door seals, which I also treated) looking as good as (if not better than) new. An outstanding product. I’d have no hesitation in using it again and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it.

I have a black composite front door which had faded due to the sun. Polytrol is amazing. Using a rag and a small amount of Polytrol I treated the whole door. It looks brand new. I would certainly recommend and use again. This is a brilliant product.

Frankly I’m astounded! I misguidedly attempted to clean paint off the frames with thinners…
I think the attached photos speak for themselves, thank you for an amazing product!

Received my Polytrol on time.My black composite front door was extremely bleached as is situated south facing and in full sun. Had differing opinions about repainting but decided on trying Polytrol. Followed instructions and only took 20 minutes as easy to apply. I am delighted with the result as the door looks brand new and all blemishes and faded areas were easily covered and only used quarter of my half litre tin. Would certainly recommend. One of the best products on the market.
