  1. My decking is about 6 years old, pressure treated softwood. I have been treating it with an oil based product but the problem is I live on an unmade lane, so farm traffic going by raises clouds of dust in the summer which then sticks to the decking turning it black. Pressure washing removes the dirt, except on end grain, but is time consuming and expensive, I also cannot use normal cleaning products that contain herbicides etc as the deck is surrounded by rose beds.
    Any suggestions.

    Philip

    1. Hi Philip, having spoken to our tech guys they have suggested that while you may feel that power washing your deck is expensive it is the most cost effective and least time consuming way of doing the work. However power washing alone is never satisfactory as it will never get the deck really clean. Think of it like putting your clothes is the washing machine without any washing powder. Since you wish to clean the deck without harming the rose beds then I suggest you use our product Net-trol.

Depending on how dirty the deck is Net-trol can be diluted up to 4 times it’s original volume. Not only that but it bio-degrades when in contact with soil. The only issue you may have is if you get some Net-trol on the leaves or petals when applying it to the deck as it can cause burn marks (not that in my experience of using Net-trol have I ever had this) but if these splashes are quickly rinsed off then no harm will be done.

For a finish you can use Textrol Penetrating Oil or go for one of our water-based products depending on the type of finish you are looking for.

Hope this helps and be sure to let us know if you have any other questions!
