Polytrol 1L and 250ml can NEW
  • Restores the colour and appearance of dull and faded surfaces caused by exposure to sunlight, rain and pollution
  • Deep penetrating oil that restores the original look and

finish to gelcoat, plastic, metal and other surfaces

  • Protects against corrosion and blemishes
  • On bare metals Polytrol restores the shine and protects against corrosion
  • Now available in a handy 250ml spray can

Polytrol is a deep penetrating oil which restores the original colour and appearance of dull or tarnished plastics, gelcoats, metals, and other surfaces.

It penetrates the surface, re-wetting the pigments to restore their lustre and colour which has been lost through exposure to sunlight, rain, and pollution and it also gives corrosion protection.  When used on tarnished metals, it brings back the shine and gives long-term protection against corrosion.

Simple to apply using a cloth or soft brush, it’s ready to wipe off in just 10 minutes! It can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and can even be used on fibreglass (GRP). Polytrol dries to a tough and long-lasting flexible finish which does not leave a film – so it won’t peel or flake.

Polytrol is now available in a handy 250ml spray can, great for quick application and difficult to reach areas. Please see the directions for use to find out how to apply it.

Ideal Uses for Polytrol Colour Restorer

  • Reviving the colour of faded garage doors

Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, grime and mildew. All waxes, polishes, silicone etc. should be completely and thoroughly removed. Treat any mildew with a 50:50 bleach and water solution. Scrub the solution on to the surface and allow it to stand for 10-15 minutes then rinse thoroughly.

Using Polytrol on plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc.

Clean the surface with warm soapy water or Net-Trol, rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry for a minimum of 24 hours depending on the surface.

Application of Polytrol Colour Restorer

General directions

Always work in areas that can be completed 10-20 minutes to ensure an even appearance. If the surface absorbs the Polytrol unevenly (i.e. some matt and some shiny patches) move any surplus oil from shiny areas to matt areas. Wipe off any excess Polytrol with a lint-free cloth before it becomes tacky. For a shinier finish, buff the surface with a lint-free polishing cloth.

When using the Polytrol 250ml spray can, simply spray on liberally, wipe off any excess and leave to dry.

Applying Polytrol to plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc.

Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth. Allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off any excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.

Applying Polytrol to stone, brick, etc.

Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth and leave it to work for 10-20 minutes. Brush out or wipe off any excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.

Applying Polytrol to metal

Apply Polytrol using a fine wire wool (000 grade) soaked in Polytrol and allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off any excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave to dry.

Note: Polytrol is not a surface coating. Its place is in the surface, not on top.

Maintenance

Maintenance is due when a Polytrol treated surfaces shows signs of fading. Prepare and re-treat surfaces as directed above.

Clean Up

Clean any tools used with white spirit. Polytrol is non-flammable, however any rags, steel wool etc. soaked in Polytrol may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Rags, steel wool etc must be saturated with water after use or placed in a sealed, water-filled metal container, before disposing of them with household waste. Rags may be laid flat and air-dried before discarding.

Things to Remember

  • Cover and protect everything you do not wish to treat.
  • Apply between +5°C and +35°C.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight or on to hot surfaces.
  • Do not allow excess Polytrol to dry and create a film on the surface (always remove excess product).
  • Do not use Polytrol on white surfaces.

Purchased this to try and restore badly faded grey bumpers on 2015 UK Ford Ecosport vehicle.
Have tried numerous products over time without success until i came across this particular car bumper and trim restorer product.
Had to wait for a dullish warm day before carrying out my work as not recommended to apply this product in direct sunshine!!
Firstly gave my car a good clean with well known brand snowfoam by BH.
Allowed foam to dwell for 5 mins then power washed off then allowed car to dry,
Cleaned all the grey bumpers and trim with an isopopryl cleaning agent and allowed to fully dry.
Then finished by pouring small amount of Polytrol into a container and applying the Polytrol very sparingly with a small brush and then cleaned off excess quickly with a lint free cloth as per instructions.

Absolutely blown away with this Car Trim Restorer product.
My only gripe was product was expensive for the
0.5 litre purchased but well impressed with this product.
    Highly recommend this product.
    A Very Happy Scotsman
Bumpers hand trim have come up brilliantly and look like new bumpers and trim on car.
Absoluterly gobsmacked by the difference in appearance of car.

I have a Thule roof box that has had a lot of exposure to the Aussie sun. It came up a treat as you can see from the before and after shots.

Used on old faded fibreglass garage door , which was painted.
    Looks like new now.
    Fantastic product.

I stupidly wiped my door over with a surface cleaning product that contained something harsh and it lifted the surface colour. I stopped as soon as I realised ( this was quite a while ago).
Absolutely flabbergasted with how this has transformed our front door. So easy to use and the results make it look like a brand new door.

  6. Mark Bishop Verified Owner

Just a small amount applied with a brush transformed our faded black composite door.

Fantastic stuff easy to apply and great results , we live near salt water which can damage the chrome and composition door , 1 coat of this and the door looks like new and will protect it too , very impressed.

Bought a tiny pot and it was enough to do my 4 burner BBQ which was faded being outside for a number of years! Hopefully it stays on for awhile (it’s quite sticky) and won’t be affected by the heat. I’ll report back if it is!

Very impressed. We have a dark blue composite door that was quite faded and was not looking too good. I applied with a cloth which took 10 minutes. After it dried it was tacky so we buffed it up, it looks like a new door, brilliant. I am also going to try on a couple of chrome parts with some fine wire wool and probably have a go at some of our faded brown drain pipes. Very good product, many thanks. It was also very quickly delivered.

I was sceptical at first, but I have to say that Owatrol Colour restorer really does the job. My red door was only six years old but faded and pale. It shed colour when cleaned but one application of the colour restorer had it looking better than new. The first photo shows work in progress and the comparison between the untreated and the oiled door. The second shot shows the finished door – better than new.
    Easy to use highly recommended.
My only gripe – not available in smaller quantities – I’ve got tons left over and guess I’ll do it all again next year.
