One of our favourite things to receive in our email box is before and after pictures of our customers’ projects. It really makes our day to see the varied uses our products are used for and the fantastic finishes they achieve.

When one customer contacted us with pictures of how they had transformed their built-in wardrobe and over-bed cupboards, we knew right away that we had to share it.

First, they sanded the wardrobes

Before applying any finish, it’s a good rule to get rid of any loose or flaky old paint. If you don’t do this, you could end up with your new finish flaking off with the old loose bits of paint, in no time at all.

No-one wants to do a job again because it’s looking messy in a few months time. Sanding is one of the ways that you can remove bits of old paint so that your finish will last as long as possible.

This customer sanded their wardrobes first, so that they could get the most out of their finish.

Spot priming

After you’ve sanded off any flaking old paint, you may find that some of the original surface is exposed. If this is the case, it’s a good idea to first spot prime all exposed surfaces with our rust inhibiting multi-surface primer Owatrol Deco. Keep applying it (allowing drying time between coats) in order to bring these exposed areas level with the existing finish.

Now you’re ready to apply the finish.

The customer then applied Owatrol Deco

An all-in-one product which provides enhanced corrosion protection, as well as a decorative finish, Owatrol-Deco is available in a range of colours.

In this instance, our customer opted for ‘Clay’, which we think looks great!

AFTER

Although in this case the customer used Owatrol Deco inside their home, it is also suitable for outdoor use, which makes this a great all-round product.

It can be used on plastic, wood and on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. If you’re applying it to metal, it can even be applied directly to a rusted surface.

Owatrol Deco is a good choice for use on plastic and uPVC. This is because they can be subject to some movement. As Owatrol Deco is a high-gloss finish, it’s extremely flexible and won’t flake or peel.

This oil-based paint also has built-in rust inhibiting qualities and does not require any undercoat before you use it.

Even better, it is safe to use in confined spaces as it doesn’t emit harmful fumes. This makes it ideal for use inside the home – especially in a bedroom.

From flaking white to captivating Clay, we have to say we were pretty impressed with this project.
