Protecting and enhancing exterior hard woods

Hard woods usually also require treatment when new with Seasonite in the same way as soft woods do. The products we would suggest for protecting and enhancing exterior hard woods surfaces depend on the type of wood you have to work with.

New Wood

• First treat the new wood with Seasonite and leave for 6-12 months
• Then clean the wood and restore its original colour with Net-Trol
• Finally protect with a suitable wood finish for hard wood (see below for our recommendations)

Grey Wood

• First clean and restore the wood with Net-Trol
• Then protect with a suitable wood finish for hard wood (see below for our recommendations)

Coated or Oiled Wood

• First strip with solvent-free Dilunett
• Then clean and restore the colour with Net-Trol
• Finally protect with a suitable wood finish for hard wood (see below for our recommendations)

Maintaining protected wood

• First remove dust from the surface and clean with Net-Trol if necessary
• Then protect with a suitable wood finish for hard wood (see below for our recommendations)

Recommended wood protection for exterior hard wood

There are many products on the market for protecting and colouring your hard wood surfaces and your product choice depends on the look that you want. Our recommendations would be as follows:

Deks Olje D1 – Use Deks Olje d1 for a transparent matt finish which does not cover the grain of the wood. This saturates and protects dense and/or oily woods and can be used alone or covered by finishing coat Deks Olje D2 for a high gloss wood finish.

Solid Colour Stain – Use SCS for an opaque surface coating with matt finish – it’s available in 52 different shades and has excellent adherence.
