Prepdeck
Prepdeck is a professional grade stripper & cleaner specifically designed for the removal of solid and semi-transparent stains, removal of mill glaze, unsightly wood stamps and other finishes from exterior wood.

Decking Paint

Hello, I have a wooden front door that is at least 10 years old. When I bought the house, about six years ago, the previous owners left a jar of some kind of wax that was specifically for this door.
Being a bit lax, I have washed down the door once a year and applied this wax.
This last winter, the door started to stick at the bottom and I’m wondering if water has penetrated through the wax and the wood has swollen as a result.
I’ve also noticed that the door has got rather bleached from the sun – visible when you open the door and see the much darker wood around the edges.
I like this door very much and but recognise that I need to be more proactive to look after it properly.
Do you please have any suggestions about things I could do / products I could use to bring it back up to par?!

Hi there Cate,
We have a product called DSP800: https://www.owatroldirect.co.uk/product/dsp-800-multi-purpose-stripper/ that can be used to remove wax from wood flooring, so you could try a sample and test it in a small area first to see if it would work for you.
Once you have removed the wax, you could use one of our exterior wood preservers: https://www.owatroldirect.co.uk/woodcare/exterior-wood-preserver/ to revive the colour and bring it back to its former glory. Some of our most popular wood protectors are Textrol, Deks Olje D1 and Aquadecks.
It is paramount that any previous finishes are completely removed before application of any of our finishes. This is because they work by saturating deep into the wood and protecting it from within, therefore any previous finish left behind will create a barrier and so the finished result will not be satisfactory.
