Last month we made a blog post showcasing how Keri of The Deck Dude restored a client’s garden decking and fencing in Battersea with Owatrol. Today, we have another project of his to showcase!
Another one of his clients, again in Battersea London, needed their garden decking and fence to be restored and Keri decided to use Owatrol products.
Again, we think you will agree that the finished results are simply stunning.

Products used
Both surfaces required a deep clean with our powerful cleaner and brightener Net-Trol before the application of the finish, which in this case was Textrol.
Net-Trol
Net-Trol is our multipurpose, biodegradable, water-based wood cleaner and brightener, which restores greyed and weathered wood to its natural colour. It can be used on both soft and hardwood and does not contain any chlorine or bleaching agents. As such, it will not damage the wood’s fibres.
Fast-acting and easy to use, Net-Trol can restore the original colour of your wood surface in as little as 15 minutes. It effortlessly removes both surface as well as ground-in dirt, leaving the wood looking bright and vibrant. Once dry, this makes it the perfect surface for your chosen protective finish.
Net-Trol can also be applied as a neutraliser after using a stripping product such as Prepdeck, Aquanett or Dilunett.
Textrol
Textrol is our highly-saturating wood oil, with a mildew-resistant matt finish, that is perfect for use on all exterior soft and hardwood. It works by saturating deep into the surface to protect the wood from within. This also means that there is no film on the surface of the wood and as such, it will not peel or flake.
Available in a wide variety of sizes and 8 colours (including clear), Textrol enhances the natural beauty of the wood whilst also protecting it from the damaging effects of moisture, weathering and UV rays.
Maintenance is also very easy, with just a clean and single application coat required once every 3 – 4 years.
The Deck Dude used the shade ‘Medium Oak’ for the fencing/cladding and the shade ‘Rustic Oak’ for the decking.
Testimonial
Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Keri of The Deck Dude had to say about using Owatrol for this project:
Why did you decide to use Net-Trol to clean the wood for this project?
“The deck and fence on this project were more than 10 years old and were in poor condition. Net-Trol gave them both a good clean and helped brighten up the timber.”
Why did you use Textrol to finish? Was there a reason you used different shades of Textrol on the fence and deck?
“Textrol is my go-to oil for finishing decks. I applied some samples to some hidden areas and the clients liked the darker colours. Although Net-Trol did a great job, there had been some other products used previously and this left some darkening of the wood. We would have liked to use Prepdeck to strip these away, but the property didn’t have an outdoor tap and thus we couldn’t use the power washer (aah London life) so cleaning off the Prepdeck would have been too labour intensive by hand and we had to stick to Net-Trol.”
How much Net-Trol and Textrol did you use for this project?
“I used 15 litres of Net-Trol and 10 litres of Textrol.”
How did you apply them (brush, roller, spray) to the wood and why?
“I applied them both with a brush but am looking to test the spraying option as I think this could be quicker if done correctly.”
Anything else you would like to add?
“The clients were super happy with the outcome. When you’ve got a 12m2 garden and a 4 bedroom house, the garden has to look good!”
We hope you found this garden decking and fence restored with Owatrol post interesting.
