With Christmas on the horizon many will be looking at making some home improvements before the inevitable family invasion.
Whether you’re planning a simple lick of paint in the lounge or trying to tackle a problem job like mould and mildew we’ve got something in our tool kit that you really need in yours! If you’re a professional painter or decorator we think you’ll love these products too.
Great tools for improving your painting
We know how difficult it is to achieve a great paint finish, it seems like such a simple task! However, you quickly realise that those professionals really must know what they’re doing! We’ve got a few tools in our tool kit that can help you on your way.
Floetrol is our water-based paint conditioner which makes an enormous difference to the quality of your paint finish. Without changing the inherent nature of the paint, it helps to remove brush and roller marks. It maintains a wet edge for longer too, allowing you more time to get the application right.
You can use it in any water-based paint and you’ll really notice the difference in finish. It comes highly recommended by professionals too! Check out this review by Dulux Select Decorator of the Year Wayne de Wet. If you’re using oil-based paint then never fear! You can get the same effect by using Owatrol Oil as your paint conditioner instead!
If you’re easily affected by paint fumes or you are painting in a house with children, you should check out our Paint Odour Eliminator. It works in almost any type of paint to chemically neutralise odours. It reduces them by up to 90% without changing the characteristics of the paint.
Handy helpers for problem areas
Problem areas in the home can really cause a headache and the potential complications can put you off from attempting a solution. We have some handy helpers which might just tempt you into giving it a go!
Simply add VC175 Mould Killer to your paint when repainting. This will provide long-lasting protection against mould regrowth.
Have you made some questionable decorating decisions in the past? Perhaps painting that pine dresser pink for your 5 year old’s room seemed a great idea at the time? Or maybe you’ve moved into a new house and the previous residents had a difference of opinion about a colour for the front door? Never fear, our brand new Multi-Purpose Stripper DSP 800 can remove pretty much any paint from pretty much any surface (excluding plastics). It’s so easy to use and in as little as 5 minutes you can have your surface clean and coating free. What’s better, it’s ready for re-finishing just 6 hours later!
We can also help if you have peeling problems on chalky, powdery or porous surfaces. This can create a real problem and extra work to repair and repaint. Owatrol’s Emulsa-Bond is a high penetrating, stir-in paint additive for use in water-based masonry or interior paints. It helps to alleviate peeling problems on sound but chalky, powdery or porous surfaces. It provides a bonding primer, stirs in easily, and does not alter the original colour. This offers a time-saving benefit by eliminating the need to separately prime. It helps the paint to adhere to the surface, vastly reducing the likelihood of peeling or flaking.
Planning something new and exciting?
If you’re planning a makeover for some unloved aspect of your home then we have a couple of great products which can make your life much simpler. Firstly there’s Owatrol Deco, our multi-surface all in one paint which is both primer AND finish! It’s available in a range of trendy colours and you can paint it on pretty much any surface with relatively little preparation – perfect.
Then there’s Easy Surface Prep (ESP), our handy helper for shiny surfaces. This little guy is great for sprucing up kitchen cupboards, melamine furniture, tiles, ceramic and more – basically any shiny surface which is usually pretty difficult to paint on! ESP is a wipe-on, wipe-off product which produces a film on the surface for paint to adhere to, removing the need for laborious sanding!
