What is Owatrol Polytrol?

Polytrol is our highly-penetrating, colour restoring oil that can be used on tarnished plastics, gelcoats, metals and other surfaces, to bring back the colour and lustre to dull or tarnished surfaces.

It works by penetrating deep into the substrate, re-wetting dried out pigments and restoring the surface’s lustre and colour that has been damaged by exposure to sunlight, rain and pollution. Also, when used on metal surfaces, Polytrol also gives long-term protection against corrosion.

Application of Polytrol

Polytrol is very quick and easy to apply and is a ‘wipe on, wipe off’ type of product:

  • Begin by thoroughly cleaning the surface you wish to treat and allow it to fully dry.
  • Next, apply Polytrol with a cloth or brush, working it into the surface. Be sure to work in areas which can be completed in 10-20 mins maximum, to ensure even coverage.
  • Finally, wipe off the excess with a lint free cloth before it becomes tacky. Remember, Polytrol’s place is inside the surface, not a coating on top of it. For a shinier finish, buff the surface with a lint-free polishing cloth.

    1. Hi there Robert,

Yes, Polytrol can safely be used on car bumpers, trims and even body work. However, if the bumpers have been exposed to many many years of harsh UV rays and weathering, then there is a chance that the pigments are too far gone and as such, Polytrol will likely not be able to restore it.

We do offer a 125ml size of Polytrol, which in our experience we have found is more than enough to test / treat bumpers. More information on Polytrol can be found here: https://www.owatroldirect.co.uk/product/polytrol/

      All the best,
      The Owatrol Team
