Net-Trol is a powerful wood cleaner and brightener which restores greyed and weathered wood to its natural colour without damaging the wood’s fibres. It effortlessly removes both surface and ground-in dirt leaving the wood looking bright and vibrant. Net-Trol is fast-acting and can restore the original colour of your wood surface in as little as 15 minutes with no laborious and backbreaking sanding!
Benefits of using Net-Trol
It is safe to use on all exterior wood types and is also an excellent degreaser for use on tropical hardwoods to allow finishes like Deks Olje D1 to penetrate. Net-Trol can remove stains caused by tannin bleed and will remove all traces of weathering caused by mildew, pollution and UV rays. It will also neutralise wood surfaces which have been stripped with a stripping product such as Owatrol’s Dilunett or Prepdeck, leaving the surface ready for applying your chosen finish.
Net-Trol is not only for use on wood surfaces though – you can also use it to restore the lustre to faded plastics dulled by weathering and UV rays. It can also be used to remove rust stains and to clean discoloured stone and cement. Net-Trol is biodegradable and does not contain solvents or bleach. It’s not harmful to plants and shrubs so it’s safe to use in the garden!

I read the reviews and saw the photos of this product working extremely well but in my case it just didn’t seem to do much at all. I applied as per the instructions to Siberian larch cladding to try and refresh the greyed sections. I went for the sample as I wasn’t sure how effective it would be but it’s near impossible to tell which parts have been done so won’t be buying the larger quantity. Perhaps the wood I have and the product are not compatible.

Hi there Guy,
We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t get the results you were after with Net-Trol. Was the product applied undiluted? To remove greying, this is always advisable.
Sometimes the greying of the surface fibres can be mistaken for the wood going pale and losing its natural colour. This can be exacerbated when the wood has just been cleaned and is even drier than usual. Net-Trol won’t always bring back the natural colour on old timber, as it requires an application of wood oil to nourish and remoisturise it. Similar to when you wash your hands with soap and the skin is really dry after, but once you use hand cream, it is fine again.
There is also a possibility of a coating of some kind that was blocking the Net-Trol from being able to saturate into the timber and work properly.
Sadly, without images to assess, we can’t give more detailed feedback – please do feel free to get in touch with us on: 01582 592707 should you wish to discuss the matter further.
All the best,

Very disappointed. After seeing positive reviews I decided to use this to remove rust stains from kota blue limestone tiles left by feet of a cast iron bench. Despite following manufacurers instructions carefully for four application cycles, I can see virtually no, if any, difference. Rust stains remain, Purchased from Trade Paint direct. Would ask for a credit but container has been opened and some product used.
Owatrol Team –
Hi there Stephen,
Unfortunately, Net-Trol is not suitable for use on limestone and it can even etch the surface.
We are not aware of Trade Paint Direct’s return policies but we recommend speaking with them and seeing if they can help you.
Apologies Net-Trol was not suitable for your needs – we hope you find a product that will help you in future.
All the best,
The Owatrol Team

Tried the sample on some wood cladding. Struggling to see much difference. I will try again but bearing in mind the cost of the product i would expect seriously better results
