Do not apply in direct sunlight or to hot surfaces.
When applying by spray, adjust the nozzle to prevent the formation of a mist.

Application of Polytrol Colour Restorer
General directions
Always work in areas that can be completed 10-20 minutes to ensure an even appearance. If the surface absorbs the Polytrol unevenly (i.e. some matt and some shiny patches) move any surplus oil from shiny areas to matt areas. Always wipe away excess Polytrol with a lint-free cloth before it becomes tacky. For a shinier finish, buff the surface with a lint-free polishing cloth.
When using the Polytrol 250ml spray can, simply spray on liberally, wipe off the excess and leave to dry.
Applying Polytrol to plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc.
Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth. Allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.
Applying Polytrol to stone, brick, etc.
Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth and leave it to work for 10-20 minutes. Brush out or wipe off the excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry.
Applying Polytrol to metal
Apply Polytrol using a fine wire wool (000 grade) soaked in Polytrol and allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off the excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave to dry.
Note: Excess Polytrol must be wiped away. It is not a surface coating and as such, its place is in the surface, not on top.
Maintenance
Maintenance is due when a Polytrol treated surfaces shows signs of fading. Prepare and re-treat surfaces as directed above.
Clean Up
Clean any tools used with white spirit. Polytrol is non-flammable, however any rags, steel wool etc. soaked in Polytrol may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Rags, steel wool etc must be saturated with water after use or placed in a sealed, water-filled metal container, before disposing of them with household waste. Rags may be laid flat and air-dried before discarding.
Things to Remember
Cover and protect everything you do not wish to treat.
Apply between +5°C and +35°C.
Do not apply in direct sunlight or on to hot surfaces.
Do not allow excess Polytrol to dry and create a film on the surface (always remove excess product).
I have used Owatrol to maintain the black plastic on my 2006 Mini Cooper S (and other cars), and it is by far the best product I have used for this. It is easy to apply with long lasting results which much improve the appearance of an older car.
Product did exactly what was promised. Coverage was slightly more than the tin promised and I am really impressed with the finish. Our composite front door is restored back to the shiny black surface that it was from 10yrs ago.
My only negative is that it was delivered using DHL, which meant that the promised delivery day was pushed back 24hrs with no notice. With where we live, Royal Mail tracked is far more reliable.
We bought the 125ml tin of polytrol for restoring a black composite door that had gone grey. The product goes a long way.
After a thorough clean, the door looked a bit better, but 24hrs later we applied the oil with a cloth and were very impressed with the result.
We couldn’t find any information as to when we could close the door, but it hasn’t marked the surface where the door seals are, so we must of got it right.,
Recently had bathroom refurbished and the plumbers didn’t cover the new black shower tray when cleaning the grout off the shower tiles. Consequently, it was extremely damaged which they tried to say was reflection from the shiny tiles!
Was despairing until I came across this product. Quick email and Steve was responsive and positive the product would work. Gave advice about application process
Used online calculator to estimate quantity required.
Easy application. Only used half of the 125ml tin. Drying time took about 48 hours but I couldn’t be more pleased. The photos speak for themselves. So glad I stumbled across this product
Bought the smallest tin to see if any good to be honest, and when I did, it took two coats to do what I thought it was supposed to do, bring back the colour to a faded GRP front door, and it did exactly that, although it may well need another coat. Overall it has transformed the door back to nearly its original colour, so would recommend to anyone looking to do the same thing, return an external GRP door to its original colour
Thank you for your review of Polytrol – some surfaces require a second application of Polytrol if it is particularly faded. We’re glad to hear you got the results you were after in the end.
Polytrol: order arrived promptly and was used immediately on a fading composite front door – resulting finish really good. Similar result for for various bits of camper van
