Linitop Acryl Prim is a multi-purpose water-based micro-porous transparent penetrating wood stain including both primer and topcoat. It has a micro-porous matt finish and is suitable for both interior and exterior uses. It is available in 14 different colours and as a penetrating product, it deeply impregnates and stains the wood itself, not just the surface. This means excellent protection, UV resistance and a finish which adapts to the dimensional variations of the wood.
This water-based wood stain is suitable for use on vertical surfaces and acrylic/alkyd mix makes for quick drying times and easy clean up with just soap and water. If you’re looking for a quick application process then Acryl Prim is perfect with re-coating times of just 6 hours and a simple 3-coat application process.
Linitop Acryl Prim water-based wood stain has 3 main functions – its primary use is as a standalone protective wood stain with a 3-coat application system. Additionally, it can be used as a coloured primer for Linitop Classic Acryl – this will give a deeper and richer coloured finish. Finally, you can also use Linitop Acryl as a coloured base for clear water-based varnishes such as Acryl Vernis. In this case you would use a single coat of Acryl Prim, followed by 2 coats of the varnish.
What can I use Linitop Acryl Prim water-based wood stain for?
- Staining garden structures like gazebos, pergolas and summer houses
- Priming wood before using another water-based wood stain – for a richer colour

- Quick and easy application of a wood stain
Restrictions
Except for use on Red Cedar and wood types containing an anti-oxidant e.g Iroko. Avoid wood types rich in resins. Contact us for further information.
Recommendations before application
- Ready for use, do not dilute.
- Shake well before application
- Do not apply at an ambient air and wood temperature of less than 10°C and greater than 30°C. The relative humidity will be of the order of 50% for optimum drying
- Protect everything that does not have to be treated
- The moisture of the wood must not be greater than 15%
- When using indoors, use in well ventilated areas
To protect the wood against UV, do not use colourless or white outside by itself as the finishing coat. Always finish with 2 coloured coats.
Surface Preparation
Use on wood whole usage, nature, quality, treatments and preparation comply with the applicable standards and DTU (DTU 59.1). The inspection and preparation of the surface are the responsibility of the user.
The wood must be dry, clean, sound, free on millglaze and prepared (degreased, sanded, dusted according to the standard practises for this type of work).
New wood surfaces
- Prepare the surface (sand with coarse and medium grade according tot he condition of the surface). Then finish by fine sanding (grit 120) according to standard practices. This will encourage and optimise the opening of the pores.
Previously coated surfaces
All previous coatings must be completely and thoroughly removed.
- Oils and sealers: Strip with Aquanett or Prepdeck then neutralise with Net-Trol
- Solvent (oil or alkyd based finishes): Strip with Dilunett then neutralise with Net-Trol
- Acrylic finishes (Water-based): Strip with Prepdeck then neutralise with Net-Trol
- Other finishes i.e. 2 pack epoxies, urethanes etc: Strip with DSP 800 then clean the surface to remove residual paraffin
Note: Hardwoods and woods rich in tannins e.g. Oak, Chestnut, Douglas Fir, Cedar, etc. may darken with Aquanett, Prepdeck and Dilunett, neutralising with Net-Trol immediately after rinsing will lighten and restore the woods colour.

Tips from the Professionals
- Always apply Linitop Acryl Prim in the direction of the grain
- On new wood, wood made bare and wood that is not durable and hasn’t been treated with a preservative, it is recommended first treating with an insecticide, fungicide and anti-blue stain agent
- To use Linitop Acryl Prim as a coloured basecoat before using another finish you should first apply a single coat of it. Without sanding, follow with 2 coats of your chosen finish, sanding in-between the two coats (we recommend Classic Acryl or Acryl Vernis).
